  • ¾ oz simple syrup , or agave nectar
  • 3 dashes orange bitters
  • 3 dashes aged bitters
  • 1 large ice rock
  • garnish orange peel, wheel, or twist optional

  • Add ingredients to whisky glass.
Add 2 1/2 oz tequila, 3 dashes of each bitter (orange and aged), and 3/4 oz simple syrup to a whisky glass with a whisky rock. Stir to combine.
  • Garnish, Rest & Enjoy.
Add an orange peel/wheel to the glass and let the cocktail rest for 1-2 minutes before enjoying it!

Notes

We like The Bitter Housewife Bitters, but Angostura Bitters work too.
To make the simple syrup, use 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup cane sugar.
  • Option 1: Using a tea kettle, pour equal parts of hot water with sugar into a glass. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  • Option 2: Add equal parts of water and sugar to a saucepan and heat until sugar is dissolved.
Chill in the freezer for 10 minutes before using or in the fridge. Store simple syrup in the fridge for up to 1 month.
Tips:
  • Stir, not shake the drink.
  • Let the tequila breathe (rest) for 1 minute before drinking.
  • Use large ice cubes for cocktails.
