slices of strawberry pizza with goat cheese, arugula, and balsamic glaze.

This Strawberry Balsamic Glaze Pizza recipe is savory, delicious, easy to make, and the perfect appetizer to make for parties, holidays, or get-togethers. You might think adding strawberries to pizza is bizarre, which I completely get, but trust me. There is something about combining roasted strawberries and creamy goat cheese on pizza with balsamic glaze. Each bite will make you crave more and more. It’s that good.

What we love about this pizza is the flavor. So let’s dive in and talk about this pizza.

🍓🍕 Ingredients

  • Pizza Dough. You can use homemade or store-bought pizza dough. When you take the pizza out of the fridge, let it sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. This makes it easier to roll the pizza dough. You could substitute with naan bread or any other type of flatbread. Roasting strawberries with goat cheese doesn’t take long when in the oven.
  • Creamy Goat Cheese. You could also be substituted for fresh mozzarella cheese or feta cheese, but we prefer goat cheese on this pizza because of the creamy texture.
  • Sweet Strawberries. This recipe calls for fresh strawberries and not frozen. Frozen strawberries turn mushy when they get thawed, which doesn’t bake well on the pizza. So, go with the fresh fruit.
  • Sauce. Our go-to sauce for this is our garlic olive oil sauce, which is easy to make. All you need is extra-virgin olive oil, 1 garlic glove, salt, and black pepper.
  • Arugula. It adds a nice peppery bite to the pizza and compliments the sweet flavors.
  • Balsamic Glaze. You will need a high-quality Balsamic Vinegar, pure maple syrup, and salt to make a delicious balsamic reduction.
  • Additional Topping you could add to this pizza:
    • Caramelized sweet onion. This will take more time to make, but it would add a new flavor with each bite.
    • Fresh basil. It adds a nice herby flavor.
    • Chicken. This is an excellent protein option and works well for this pizza. After you cook the chicken breast and shred it, scatter chicken all over the pizza with the other toppings. To save time, you could use left-over rotisserie chicken.

🫓 How to make Balsamic Glaze for Pizza

  • Make Balsamic Sauce. Add Balsamic Vinegar to a small saucepan and add maple syrup and salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until the sauce has reduced in half of the original volume. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool. This will thicken the balsamic glaze.

🍕 Instructions

This pizza is so easy to make, and it’s so delicious. The key to this pizza is making the pizza crust super thin.

  • Preheat Oven. Preheat your oven to the highest temperature, and place a pizza stone on the middle rack of the oven. A higher temperature is crucial to making delicious homemade pizza. Once the oven is preheated, let it sit for 10 additional minutes to make sure the pizza stone is at the same temperature as your oven.
  • Prepare Pizza Dough. Roll pizza dough out with your hands or a rolling pin. Try to make the pizza dough as thin as possible; since the strawberries cook fast, we don’t want an underbaked middle. Place pizza dough on a piece of parchment paper, so it’s easier to slide on the pizza peel.
  • Add Toppings. On the pizza, spread the garlic olive oil sauce on top and generously sprinkle sliced strawberries. Next, sprinkle Goat Cheese and add any other toppings you may want, like shredded chicken or caramelized onions.
  • Bake Pizza. Slide pizza on the hot pizza stone and bake for 10 minutes until the pizza crust is golden brown.
  • Add Additional Topping & Enjoy. Add fresh basil and arugula to the baked pizza and generously drizzle the balsamic glaze on top before enjoying.

❔ FAQs

Best Wine with strawberries?

We love to serve this pizza with a nice bottle of Chardonnay or a Dry Pinot Rosé. The fruity flavors of the pizza complement the floral and delicate wine notes the most.

Balsamic glaze verse balsamic vinegar?

You can easily buy balsamic glaze in the grocery store, but we prefer to make ours from scratch because it’s very easy. Balsamic vinegar is the key ingredient in balsamic glaze.

Can I use balsamic dressing instead of balsamic vinegar?

We don’t recommend it as we want to make a balsamic reduction, and the balsamic dressings you buy at the store have other ingredients, making it challenging to achieve that glaze-like texture.

Can I make a balsamic reduction ahead of time, and if so, how should I reheat it?

Yes, you can, but it will thicken to a hard-like sauce. When ready to use, add the sauce to a saucepan and reheat, or add it to the microwave and heat in increments, stirring until desired texture.

Does pizza with strawberries taste good?

Yes! Be sure to use fresh strawberries instead of frozen strawberries. This pizza is unlike your traditional pizza, but after the first bite, you will be Woah-ed.

How to Store and Reheat?

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3-days.
Reheat in the oven, airfryer, or on a pan with olive oil.
