A slice of Asparagus Pizza with Prosciutto

Welcome back to another Pizza Friday! This weekend we are celebrating Spring’s arrival; therefore, we wanted to share a Spring-inspired Pizza! We went with our favorite Asparagus Pizza with Green Pea & Prosciutto! This pizza is simple to make, refreshing, and 100% delicious!

What we love about this simple pizza recipe is the flavor. It has a creamy, herby green pea sauce and then topped with sliced asparagus, prosciutto, and parmesan cheese. It’s a delicious one, y’all, and it’s definitely a great Spring pizza!

Ingredients

  • Pizza dough, homemade or store-bought
  • Asparagus
  • Prosciutto
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Green Pea Sauce: heavy cream, green peas, fresh mint, fresh basil, garlic, shallot, salt, and pepper

This Green Pea Pizza Sauce is easy to make too, and all you got to do is add all ingredients to a food processor and blend them into a puree. This sauce has a beautiful green color and nice herby notes to it. You can use frozen or fresh green peas in this recipe too. Sometimes I defer to frozen pea as they are fresher than the bag of green peas at the store. Once green peas are shelled, their shelf life is about 3-5 days. If you don’t use them quickly, they start to ferment and develop a sour smell and taste. So when in doubt, if you’re not shelling peas yourself, and you’re not sure how old the bag of shell green peas is at the store, use frozen.

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Green Pea Pizza Sauce: To a food processor, add green peas, garlic, shallot, heavy cream, fresh mint leaves, fresh basil leaves, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Blend until smooth and transfer to a small bowl.

Step 2: Prep the pizza dough. Roll it out. Spread on the green pea sauce and top with sliced asparagus, prosciutto, and freshly grated parmesan cheese. Bake at the highest temperature (500-550 degrees F); your oven can get for about 10 minutes, or until crust is brown.

Step 3: Serve: Add some fresh basil and parmesan cheese on top, cut into slices and serve immediately!

FAQs

How long does this pizza take to make, start to finish?

Prep: 15 minutes to make the sauce and prep the pizza
Bake: The pizza takes about 10-12 minutes to make, depends on the size of the pizza dough.
Total: 25 minutes

How to store leftover pizza and reheat?

Store pizza in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop until hot. We like to add olive oil to a pan and love how it crisps up the pizza crust. Goodbye to soggy leftover pizza dough.

Wine Pairing Ideas?

This pizza pairs best with a fruity and crisp Rosé. The fruity and crisp wine pairs lovely with the herby green pea sauce. We selected a dry, fruity and crisp Rosé from Cooper’s Hawk. Super yum.

This is really a delicious Spring-Inspired pizza! It’s full of flavor and super yummy! We hope you all enjoy it! ♡
