These Adobo Chicken Tacos are low-carb, keto-friendly, easy to make, and flavorful. They are made with ground chicken, served in lettuce wraps, and topped with Cilantro Lime Crema.

This taco meat recipe is made with ground chicken and flavored with homemade taco seasoning and adobo pepper. It’s easy to make and can be served with butter lettuce and soft or hard tortillas.

These ground chicken tacos are easy to make and require simple taco ingredients.

Here are some of our recommendations/tips with the ingredients for the recipe:

  • Use premade taco seasoning or follow our suggestion on the spices to season the ground chicken. Either option works.
  • Substitute Ground Chicken for Ground Breast, Tenders, or Thighs. We love using ground chicken for this recipe, but you can use any type of chicken. Be sure to cut the chicken into small pieces for the tacos. Another option is to use ground turkey or ground pork.
  • Serve with our Cilantro Lime Crema, or use regular sour cream and top tacos with cilantro and lime.
  • Serve with diced Roma tomatoes, a pinch of salt and pepper, and lime juice or Salsa Fresca.

🥣 How to Make

This ground chicken lettuce boats are easy to make, and all you go to do is cook the chicken and veggies and then assemble the tacos.

Saute onion and garlic.

Add diced onion to a pre-heated saute pan with 1-2 tbsp olive oil over medium-high heat. Cook onion for about 3-5 minutes; add garlic and cook for 1 additional minute.

Cook chicken with spices and adobo.

Add ground chicken to the same saute pan. Use a spatula to break the ground chicken into pieces.

Or, use a potato masher to help break the cooked chicken into pieces if needed.

Once chicken is cooked, add adobo pepper and taco seasoning, and stir to combine.

Cook until tender, and season to taste.

Once the ground chicken is fully cooked and broken into pieces, taste and determine if you need more salt or lime juice.

Make taco lettuce wraps.

Add ground Mexican chicken meat to lettuce cups and season with pico de gallo, Mexican crema, hot sauce, or other taco toppings, and enjoy!

If you don’t have pico de gallo, dice 2-3 small tomatoes into small pieces and season with lime juice, salt, and pepper.

Ingredients
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ white onion , diced
  • 2 garlic cloves , minced
  • 1 lb ground chicken or ground turkey or pork
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp salt , plus more to taste
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ¼ cup chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp lime juice
